As I mentioned in Away Rotations, the future Dr. Hubby is doing his second sub internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. This past Saturday we took a little road trip and drove 11 hours from Baltimore to Nashville. Since it was going to be a short trip we wanted to make the most of it and see as much as we could, not to mention actually spend some time catching up with each other.
Saturday night we went downtown to Broadway Street to check out the bars, live music and grab some southern food (pulled pork BBQ). As country music fans, we were in heaven listening to all the music blaring out into the streets and we were so impressed with the talent… and not so impressed with the outfits we saw haha!
We started Sunday by stopping by a highly recommended pancake place, the Pancake Pantry, where we both stuffed our faces with some yummy pancakes. Future Dr. Hubby tried their award winning sweet potato pancakes and I tried the sugar and spice pancakes which came with applesauce. Delicious!
After eating more than we probably should have we decided to walk it off and ventured around the Vanderbilt University campus to check out the hospital.
We then eventually made it back to the car and drove around Centennial Park to see The Parthenon. The building is a full-scale replica of the Athenian originals.
We then went to the Country Music Hall of Fame, which is downtown near the Bridgestone Arena where the Nashville Predators play (Nashville NHL Team).
Following the Country Music Hall of Fame we drove through the neighborhoods in and around Nashville to get a feel for what the area was like.
I think considering the short amount of time I was actually in the area, we got a good amount of sightseeing in. I hope to get down there again this month providing future Dr. Hubby’s schedule gives him a weekend off. *Fingers Crossed*
