About the Author

Hi, welcome to my blog! My name is Briana. I am married to a PGY5 neurosurgery resident (DrH) and mama to Andrew, Luke and Blondie (furbaby). I previously was a senior public relations & communications professional in the corporate world, but recently decided to stay home following the birth of our second son.

About PR Meets OR

The title of the blog “PR Meets OR” comes from both my career (Public Relations = PR) and DrH’s (surgery which is done in an operating room = OR).

Everyone chooses to blog for different reasons. The English major in me finds writing enjoyable and often therapeutic, so I thought why not put it to good use.

There are so many resources out there for medical students, residents and practicing physicians for advice and support. But, over the years I have found that there isn’t as much out there for their significant others (this is changing thankfully!). Ultimately, through my blog, I hope to reach others who are living this wild medical life by sharing our experiences, challenges and day-to-day life, to let them know they aren’t alone.

July, 2013 while my husband was on his first away rotation, at the beginning of his 4th year of medical school, I finally decided [after a great deal of encouragement by family] that is was a perfect time to start chronicling our experiences as so many milestones were going to occur over the next year.  In that first year we went through the process of applying and interviewing for residency, residency matching, my husband’s thyroid cancer, moving, graduation and our WEDDING! It was a CRAZY year.

It is 5+ years later and I am attempting to still blog about our experiences! Stay tuned… it’s going to be a wild and exciting ride and I can’t wait to share it with you!
